I have a Evinrude E225 FPXSIG #G02318098 FICHT
The engine will shut down with out warning, and will not start for 10-15mins then run fine.. If I turn engine off after running it may not start again for 10-15 mins. It will have Check engine lite on after turning ingition off then back on. This occured on my rt engine last year and you all rebuilt the ECU/EMM. The boat MX said it shows no codes in computer. Can I send it to you and what info off the engine/injectors do you need?

Dear Gentlemen: For more than 2 months, several mechanics were trying to find out why my 2001 Evinrude Fichts 225īs were having the problem of once they were turned off, they wouldnīt start inmediately. It was like dead batteries and we had to wait from 3 or 5 minutes to make them start again. Then OK...perfect again, til the next turned off. They couldnīt solve the problem, so I went to the internet and found a place where a person had a similar experience. He was saying that he sent you the computers and the problem was solved after you returned them to him repaired. So thatīs what I did. Took the off and sent them over. 2 days later when the computers came back and reistalled: THE PROBLEM WAS GONE! I just wanted to tell you that I do really appreciate what you did and that I am very happy with your work, as well as happy to pay you what you charged me, specially for the super fast service. DFI Technologies checked out my ecu for no charge but the shipping.They saved me several hundred dollars as the dealer was stummped on my motor problem and was sending my ECU out to be rebuilt for about $1000.00.DFI checked it out and found that the ECU was good.They have a fast turn around plus answered all of my questions.Thanks again Chris Flentke

I have a 225 2001 evin. ficht very hard to start when at lower ambient temp.50 deg. or less. Once It started it would start great until is sat for a hr. or so and then it would fire and act as if starter kicked out as when flooded. Ecm has been diaognosed as possibly bad and was sent to DFI Tec. this wk. at my request. Do you think this problem I have been fighting for about a yr. caused the ECM problem or it was a Ecm problem. Have a 1999 225 HP Evinrude Ficht (purchased new) -- for the last two years the motor cranks but will not start (first thing in the morning)once the weather turns cool (50 degrees or less), but once the temperature rises and the sun warms the motor, it starts and runs fine the rest of the day. The next morning the routine is repeated.
Any idea on what may be the problem -- any help is greatly appreciated.

twin 1999 225 fichts on 26 ft mako, both ECUs were repaired in 2002. both engines have been running great since. thanks DFI !! I now have a small problem with the port engine 10 amp ignition fuse blowing when key is on and motor is trimed up or down. it blows even when engine is off. any suggestions? Hello, I was recently told by my ket ski mechanic that I have a defective (bad) EMM and that it needs to be replaced, and that I would be $1200+tax+labor. Is this module located in plain site for me to do the labor? After install, is there certain diagnostics that need to be ran before back in the water? I am doing whatever I can to save some money considering I need a new Stator too.

I have a '98 150hp Evinrude Ficht. Is it possible to have the heads "pinned" without doing a complete replacement or getting a whole different power head? Getting tired of replacing spark plugs due to carbon build-up every time I turn around.I rarely let this engine idle at low rpm's to keep the plugs from fouling but,it doesn't seem to help much.

I have a '98 johnson ficht 175. Powerhead rebuilt last year after a thrown rod. Lately I am having trouble starting, usually takes 10-20 trys, and then runs rough for 15-20 seconds then smooths out and runs like a champ. Could this be a fuel problem, maybe the pump? I had a ck engine light but my mechanic told my it read "varying voltage" and he tightend the rectifier. I need info on a service manual for this motor.

I was reading through your guestbook, and am impressed with the praise from your clients. Very nice.
I am looking for a way to check on the data in my 2002 Honda 225's ECM. Do you deal with Hondas at all, and could you suggest a source on information and hardware for this? My three local Honda dealers do not have the necessary equipment to do this themselves?
Alternately, is it possible to send the ECM somewhere to be read? This would be much easier than dragging a boat and motor to a distant dealer.

have ck eng light and water in fuel light coming on,have changed water seperator and engien fuel filter with oem,codes cleared.less than 10 min of running and concern appears again,replaced sensor,ck and treated fuel,no signs of water.told possible computer glitch. have lossed about 200 rpm on top end and runs rough at idle when warm,recently changed plugs,gapped at 28 and indexed properly but have not ran yet since plug change.

I recently bought a 98' 150hp Evinrude Ficht with 200hrs on it.The guy I bought it from said he had never had any problems with it but,not too long after he bought it it had been recalled for several updates. Been looking around for info and suggestions on what to do with some of the problems that other Ficht owners have experienced. Other than the plugs sooting up I haven't had any problems either. Hopefully things will stay that way.

Hey guys I just wanted to say thanks. I called today 12/20/2005 to ask for your help in locating a problem I was having. One of my 98 Evinrude 150's was idleing rough and pinging up to 3000 rpm, it ran good at 4000 rpm and above. I was calling to see if you thought it was an injector, or the ECU, but you all suggested it might be a fuel problem. Thanks to your good advise I found the problem as you shggested it was the fuel pump, I pulled off the vac lins and squeezed the bulb and the fuel came out. I rebuilt it in 30 mins, one of the flapers was stuck open. By the way it runs great.

Both of my batteries recently did not charge correctly while boating. Engine is the 1999 johnson ficht 150. No problems with this motor until now... Once the batteries were charged again & installed in the boat, the check engine warning light in the boat comes on immediately. This warning system coincidently began at the same time of these batteries running out of juice. All fuses have been checked and are ok. I'm wondering if the charging system in the motor isn't working properly now. The operation & maint. manual doesn't reference the alternator location in this motor. I'd like to check the voltage output if I can locate. Any suggestions or information on this charging system?

My motor runs on 3 cylinders when it runs below 1800 RPM. The dealer said it is a problem in de computer (586518 EMM ) is it a possibility there is an interruption in the wiring or a bad connection? When the motor runs up to 1800 RPM no problem at all ? The computer give no faults!!! They changed it with a another one and it runs OK. What is your advice ?

I have 4 ingnition control moduals that have failed, I've just ordered 2 more and are waiting for the parts to come in from another company, wanted to know if you could rebuild these parts (pn 586381) . You claim that ECU can't cause high rpms. But what electronic item on the engine can?
I have a 1999 225 ficht. After running for period of time rpms don't want to return to <1k. It is hard to get it into neutral because tranny is under load. If I get it into neutral, the rpms are high. In fact they can climb > 2500rpm. If I turn the motor off and restart, the engine runs perfectly for a pretty long period of time. The fact that power off resets it to run normally makes me think it is an electronic problem. What can cause this? What sensor tells the computer to run fast? TPS and lift pumps are fine.

I am having a real problem identifying a problem with a short in my 2000 200 HP Evinrude FICHT. We have traced wiring and relays and it seems to be in the EMM. It is the original and my motor has approx. 125 Hrs. What is the turn around time for a unit, or even better can I purchase a unit and pay for the core? And return the core next week and receive credit on my VISA???? I am running out of time for a vacation over the 4th of July.... I don't know if you recall, I sent you another E-Mail back about a year ago concerning a mis-firing cylinder, it turns out that one of the wires boot was crimped between the coil and a head bolt.... As always you web site is the best...

AS OF 2002,THE 7712 SPARK PLUG HAS CHANGED TO A STRIKE PAD DESIGN TO HELP THE 97'-EARLY 98' FICHTS GO LONGER BETWEEN CHANGEOUTS.THESE PLUGS WHEN USED WILL IN SOME CASES OUTLAST THE NGK SERIES.AS WE KNOW ALREADY,THE MORE WE RUN BELOW THE 2000 RPM MARK,THE MORE THE IGNITION FIRES TO BURN OFF THE FUEL.SO OPEN EM'UP AND CLEAN THEM OUT!! NOBODY IDLES ANYWAY!!

I just sent you an EMM from my 150 FICHT Evinrude year 2000 Outboard Motor for delivery on Monday for testing and repair. The engine wont run unless the computer is bypassed, then it runs fine. It also runs a couple of seconds longer when you hold the key then shuts off.
After you diagnose, please repair but I'd appreciate a call with the diagnosis and cost (818) 884-2882.
Also, I'm trying to get it back so I can let a prospective buyer test drive the boat on Saturday 4/23/05 if that's at all possible. I provided a two day shipping label (FedEx).

I am having a starting problem with a 1999 225 FICHT Evinrude. It is very hard to start. When it does start it runs great. If you turn it off for an hour or longer it becomes very hard to start again. You guys were highly recommended to me. I am at my wits end with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
